Project Review: The Atlantis Resort 3D Logo Design 2004.

The final Hero shot for the Atlantis Resort.

A low light opening frame from the Motion Graphics style boards.

I did a series of off angles as well for interstitial moves in the AV work as well.

A pulled back lower angled view here.

The Quad view of the scene. The wall was well over a million faces.

A close up shot detailing the triple layered 3D Logo I designed out.

A screenshot view showing the extent of this simple build.

The Atlantis Resort 3D Logo Design 2004.

Client: The Atlantis Resort via The Cimarron Group.
Art Direction: Myself.
Project Date: December 2004.

Almost a decade ago I did a pass at the Atlantis Casino for  a Presentation as both a Print and AV[ Motion Graphics piece to pitch the casino. I regularly did these for the Corporate Adverting wing of Cimarron, and I created this underwater look with the golden bronzed logo.

I was given the file for the logo as a bitmap and made a vector using Vector Magic, and proceeded to do a triple layer plated logo.

I then built out a displaced mesh for the bricks and used the Final Renders Dirt shader to get the grit needed. I then added the caustic reflections from the metal up onto the wall.

The water caustics are a fake, using a bitmap of real caustics from a pool projected up to showcase the theme of underwater for the Atlantis based Casino.

I later animated the 3D-Logo, and the water FX for the Motion Graphics piece that accompianed it. A fun little one day gig.

Project Review: The Palazzo Casino at the Venetian- Logo Design and Exploration 2006

A Palazzo Logo with a look I've done before, a Triple Stack of metal bevels with enough gap between each plate to reveal a bit of the plates top face with a hint of warmth in the lighting.

I love logos that drop the bar in the "A", as we have above, feels a bit ROMAN.

This is the final logo they used, though not in 3D often, though it was on the website a bit early on.

A Very Thin Deco inspired Logo similar to what I did here for Atlas Shrugged.

A Logo with a small rotunda behind it ghosted back. For the MGFX we animated the lighting to reveal the dome and then go to just the highlights on the text to end it off.

For this 3D logo for The Venetian 'Casino in a Casino', The Palazzo,  I did a dimensional wax pressed logo with the beautiful hand built internal design provided by Motion Graphics.

The Palazzo Casino at the Venetian
Logo Design and Exploration 2006

Client: The Venetian via The Cimarron Group.
Art Direction: lots...
Project Date:Christmas 2006.

While in-house for six years at The Cimarron Group, I worked on a number of Casino related gigs as seen here, and here, so when the Venetian Casino approached us again, we put every team on the logo design for the new casino in the Venetian.

I had done some past work for the Venetian, so they wanted us to take a stab at the logo designs, and me being the little 3D department of One at the Cimarron Group, I too was given this task for a day or so.

Some Logos are all my designs, and some I collaborated with Art Directors from the talented Print Department, and Motion Graphics Department to help- dimensional'ize some of their designs as well.

The look was simple elegant platinum with hints of warmth. We did to a strong red and gold wax look, that they liked, but they loved the platinum look with the bright metals, and soft texture features.

All in all it went a bit Deco at times, a fun exercise to explore, and I got to work with some great fellow Designers too on this one.

Project Review: Monty Python's Spamalot at the Wynn Casino 2006

A rounded bevel and holding plate, but no deep extrusion on this Monty Python 3D Logo. All letters overlap and are rotated to read.

Here is the above logo extruded back into space along with a dropped camera angle to accentuate the depth in the 3D Logo.

I did an all red version of the Monty Python Logo as well using a dirt shader to darkened and age it up a bit.

I also was asked to go back to the first top concept and do a straight on with deep extrusion version as well. This 3D Logo version I did almost made it to final.

Here is what finished as final: The Monty Python  3D Logo, the SPAMalot 3D Log, and the mark for Wynn Casino.

A little pick-up was to do a web tag to match the font in Monty Python so I built this out and gimbaled the letters with this to match.

Project Review
Monty Python's Spamalot at the Wynn Casino 2006

Client: The Wynn Casino Las Vegas via The Cimarron Group.
Art Director Mary Ellen Schrock.
Project Date: August 2006.

I did a variety of 3D logos over the years when I was the in-house 3D Design Department of One[ a.k.a.: The One Man Army] at The Cimarron Group in Hollywood, CA, and being a huge fan of Monty Python , when Mary Ellen brought this job to me, I was very excited to take a quick stab at it.

The Logo was locked in , all they wanted to see was a dimensional version of what they had been using for a few years, so I did a series of 3D versions or, interpretations of the 2D into 3D.

What worked well since the original logo was all overlapped text, where the kerning[ spacing betwix the letter forms] was negative, I decided to gimbal the text at 5 degrees to allow a trailing and facing edge to accentuate the overlap, you see that in all the titles I did.

For Spamalot and the Wynn casino, I did simple extrusions with some color modifications. A quick 4-5 hr gig that was a fun solve though whith a locked pallette and design and just over half a day I needed to work fast.

Project Review: Las Vegas Casinos

A wide version of a new Studio 54 Logo I did for Art Director Calvin Sumler.

A modified Icon box version of the Logo that fits a standard One-Sheet Poster format.

A wide fire version of the Tabu Lounge Logo we presented.

A tall version in a cooler color range for Tabu.

A Casino Las Ramblas Logo we did back in 2004 for a pitch to open additional Casinos.

An Icon Marque built for the logo that matched the old "Rat Pack" photo.

Las Vegas Casinos
Las Ramblas--Studio 54--TABU

Client: The Cimarron Group.
Art Director: Calvin Sumler, and myself.
Project Date(s): 2005-2008.

While I ran the 3D design and animation department at The Cimarron Group for six years in Hollywood we did a lot of pitches to casinos to get work, and that usually included a few logo treatments we would offer to the client as a taste. Above you will see three additional casinos I have worked on; Studio 54, the TABU lounge, and finally Casino Las Ramblas.

Casino artwork is a fun genre to create artwork for as the bright lights and casino swag are fun to design with.

The bright bulb look was something that I developed farther on the "Nine" project so we spread that look over to these Icons as well.

You can view my prior casino work here.

Project Review: Sand's Bethworks Casino

An I-Beam Profile Logo built with heavy steel.

The Iconic Bridge still standing at the Steel Mill is used here in the Logo as well.

It is always fun to bend a Logo in half having one word on one side and another on the second one as seen above.

A glowing Metal 3D Logo designed by me.

One of my favorite Icons with the block of Iron with the Logo on it.

A cool steel version of a Logo with Holding Device.

A Warm Steel Logo with Holding Device. A bit closer to a Crest design.

Glowing metal from behind. A two pass render using Sub Surface Scattering to get that proper internal glow in the HOT IRON.

The Big Heavy Chain indicates the weight of this Design.

Andy's Final Design Proposed for the exploration.

Sand's
BETHWORKS
Bethlehem PA.

Clients The Sands via The Cimarron Group.
Art Director: Darren Keller and Andrew Marciniak
Project Date: Summer 2007.

I did the occasional project for the Home Entertainment Department when I was in-house at The Cimarron Group, and back in the Summer of 2007, we did a 3D logo exploration for a new Casino built in an old steel mill in Bethlehem PA.

This was a fun project in that I got to build heavy metal Logos with rivets and rust, and best of all HOT steel. Glowing metal produces a unique look, and with Sub surface Scattering[ internally translucent] in all major Global Illumination Renderers these days, and this project was perfect to do some experimentation on that front.

Very Fun Project all in all.

Project Review: Venetian Resort- Architectural Parts.

The Main Print Rendering done for the Octagon at the Palazzo in the Venetian Resort.

Some of the looped interlocking designs I did for Boarders.

Some Screen Details taken from the Architectural Design of the Palazzo.

The Details used on the main Icons for the 3D Illustrations.

Various Long Boarders used in the Venetian Octagon and other Print work Concepts.

I re-used the Architectural Parts as 3D Filigree on the Sherlock Holmes Magnifying Glass Handle.

Venetian Resort
Architectural Parts.

Client: The Venetian Resort Las Vegas via The Cimarron Group.
Art Director: Calvin Sumler.
Project Date: Winter 2007.

At The Cimarron Group I worked on various pitch packages and design work for a few Casinos in Las Vegas for the Corporate Division then run by Nigel Williams. I helped with a pitch for the Venetian Resort "Octagon" a shopping plaza within the main casino resort and we did both the Logo and Poster work, as well as some Architectural Rendering.

Above you will see a variety of Architectural parts that I built and rendered for various boarder and decoration for various graphics projects, as well as a sample above of where I re-used the architectural parts for detailed filigree on the Sherlock Holmes Magnifying Glass. Many 3D Artists use texture maps for these where I tend to build out all my details in 3D so this was a great use for these 3D deco trim pieces.

I also used the parts in the Octagon Image above with the doorway to the Venetian and the Palazzo.
